Get to know the beautiful village of Limenaria.

“Limeraria” is a beautiful town that is found in the southwest of the island with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. It became widely known due to its mines, which was the reason why Limenaria was founded.

“Palataki” is the most popular site in Limenaria. It resembles a sparkling jewel on a rocky cape.

At the top of the hill are the mines’ warehouses, where during the summer months visitors can watch a variety of musical and theatrical events.

A great number of tavernas, restaurants and bars can be found around. Limenaria is also well-known for its lively night life.

There are various archeological & cultural sites throughout Thassos island but we recommend a visit to the archaeological museum. The museum is considered one of the most important museums of the area, it exhibits collections of archeological finds from the 7th century BC to the 7th century AD. Important findings from the Paleolithic to the Roman era paint a vivid picture of one of the most important Aegean civilizations.

There are several important & interesting religious sites all over the island. A few suggestions would be to visit the monastery of Archangel Michael, the old church of Saint Athanasios in Kastro & the church of Saint Nicholas in Limenas.
