Get to know the beautiful village of Limenaria.

“Limeraria” is a beautiful town that is found in the southwest of the island with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea. It became widely known due to its mines, which was the reason why Limenaria was founded.

“Palataki” is the most popular site in Limenaria. It resembles a sparkling jewel on a rocky cape.

At the top of the hill are the mines’ warehouses, where during the summer months visitors can watch a variety of musical and theatrical events.

A great number of tavernas, restaurants and bars can be found around. Limenaria is also well-known for its lively night life.

Thassos Island

Thassos is the northern island of Greece, known as the emerald island because of its lush forests and the amazing nature. The island's natural beauty captivates anyone who visits it for the first time. Beautiful sandy beaches, clear skies and crystal clear sea waters will turn your vacation into an unforgetable experience. Distances from the most important sites in Thassos are relatively small so you could combine your summer holidays with visits to historic sites and places that are famous for their beautiful natural landscapes. Activities around the island

Thassos has lots of amazing places to explore and a multitude of activities that will turn your holidays into a memorable experience.

Sailing

In a place famed since ancient times for the maritime skills of its inhabitants, you can find several places to either rent a sailing boat or book a boat tour and a multitude of good moorings in the vicinity of the coast.

Cycling

Cycling is a unique way to explore the hidden and unspoilt parts of the Thassian countryside. You can also take part on one of the many biking tours that are being organized throughout the island.

Trekking

Take advantage of Thassos’s old footpaths which link the traditional villages and discover the interior of the island which remains almost completely untouched.

Scuba Diving

If you are a lover of the deep you can find several diving centers scattered around the island. All of them feature modern equipment & are staffed by certified professionals. You can participate whether you are a complete novice or an advanced diver.

Museums

There are various archeological & cultural sites throughout Thassos island but we recommend a visit to the archaeological museum. The museum is considered one of the most important museums of the area, it exhibits collections of archeological finds from the 7th century BC to the 7th century AD. Important findings from the Paleolithic to the Roman era paint a vivid picture of one of the most important Aegean civilizations.

Churches & Monasteries

There are several important & interesting religious sites all over the island. A few suggestions would be to visit the monastery of Archangel Michael, the old church of Saint Athanasios in Kastro & the church of Saint Nicholas in Limenas.
